How to blur faces in a photo on iPhone
iPhone's Photos app can mark up a photo but has no blur tool. To blur a face without uploading the photo anywhere, open it in MaxVault's Photo Editor and choose Blur faces: MaxVault finds the faces for you. Use Redact an Area to cover text like names or addresses.
Why not use the Photos app?
The Photos app's Markup tool can draw over a photo, but it has no blur. Online blur tools work, but you have to upload the photo to someone else's server first, which defeats the purpose.
Blur a face with MaxVault
- Open the photo in MaxVault. (Import it first with + → Import from Photos if needed.)
- Tap Edit, then choose Blur.
- Tap Blur faces. MaxVault detects the faces in the photo and blurs them. Adjust the Blur strength until they can't be recognized.
- If a face isn't detected, or you want to hide something else, choose Blur an Area and drag over it.
- Tap Done. The edited photo is saved in your vault.
Redact text
Choose Redact an Area to place a solid block over names, addresses, account numbers or anything else. Solid redaction is safer than blur for text, which can sometimes be read through a light blur.
Before you share: remove the location
Photos carry hidden information, including where they were taken. In the editor, open Metadata and choose Remove metadata before sharing so the copy you send doesn't reveal the location. See how to remove location from photos.
Blur, Redact and Remove Metadata are part of the MaxVault 8 Photo & Video Editor.
