How to trim a video on iPhone (and save a frame as a photo)
Short answer
In Photos, tap Edit on a video and drag the ends of the timeline to trim it. For videos kept in MaxVault, open the video, tap Edit and use Trim, Rotate, Crop or Quality. To grab a still, move to the frame you want and tap Save Frame. Choose Save as New Video to keep the original.
Trim a video in MaxVault
- Open the video in MaxVault and tap Edit.
- In Trim, drag the handles on the timeline to the start and end you want.
- Use Rotate, Crop or Quality if needed. Lowering quality makes a large video smaller to share.
- Tap Save and choose Save as New Video to keep the original, or Overwrite Original to replace it.
Save a frame as a photo
- In the editor, choose Frame and move to the exact moment you want.
- Tap Save Frame. The still is saved next to the video as a photo.
You can also set a frame as the video's icon from Settings → Icon in the video's More menu.
In the Photos app
Photos can trim (Edit, then drag the timeline ends) but can't save a frame as a photo without a screenshot, and the video stays in your library.
The Video Editor is part of the MaxVault 8 Photo & Video Editor.
