How to download files privately on iPhone
Safari saves downloads to the Files app and saved images to Photos, where they're visible to anyone who opens those apps. MaxVault's private browser downloads files directly into the vault folder you choose. Set the folder in Browser Settings → Download Files To, and turn on Auto Clear History to wipe browsing history when you close it.
Where Safari puts your downloads
Even in a Private tab, Safari saves downloads to Files → Downloads, and Save Image puts pictures in your Photos library, where they show up in Recents and sync to iCloud.
Download into MaxVault instead
- In MaxVault, tap + → Private Web Browser.
- Browse as usual. When you download a file, it's saved into your vault.
- To choose where downloads go, open the browser menu → Browser Settings → Download Files To and pick a folder. Turn on Ask before download if you'd like to confirm each one.
Want to keep a web page? Use Download Page as PDF from the browser menu, or save it as a bookmark file inside any folder.
Clear your tracks automatically
In Browser Settings, turn on Auto Clear History and MaxVault wipes browsing history when you close the browser. Clear All Browser Data removes everything immediately.
Switch instantly
MaxVault 8's new browser switches instantly between the page you're on and your files, and has Find on page too. See the Private Browser.
