How to play video and audio files on iPhone
Short answer
Import a video or audio file into MaxVault and tap it to play. The player supports VLC formats, from MKV and AVI videos to FLAC music and Apple Voice Memos recordings, with customizable gestures, speed control and a Mini Player.
More than MKV and AVI
MaxVault plays the video and audio formats supported by VLC, including MKV, AVI, WMV, FLV, WEBM, MP4, MOV, FLAC, OGG, MP3, M4A and WAV. That includes recordings shared from Apple Voice Memos, alongside movies, music and other audio files.
Play them with MaxVault
- Download MaxVault.
- Get the file into MaxVault in one of these ways:
- From the Files app: tap + → Import from Files and pick the video or audio file.
- From a computer: tap + → WiFi Transfer in MaxVault and drag the file into the web page shown on your computer.
- From the cloud: turn on iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Drive in Settings → File Manager → Show Folders.
- Tap the file to play it.
Play Apple Voice Memos recordings
- Open Voice Memos and choose a recording.
- Open its More menu, choose Share, and select MaxVault. If MaxVault is not listed, save it to Files, then import it into MaxVault.
- Tap the imported recording to play it inside your vault.
Sharing creates a copy. The original stays in Voice Memos until you delete it there.
Player controls
- Customize swipes and taps to control playback the way you like.
- Change the playback speed, turn on subtitles, or send it to a TV with AirPlay.
- Shrink it into the Mini Player and keep watching while you browse your vault.
