How to transfer files from a computer to iPhone over Wi-Fi
Short answer
Put your iPhone and computer on the same Wi-Fi network. In MaxVault, tap + → WiFi Transfer, then open the address it shows in your computer's web browser. Drag files onto the page to upload them to your iPhone, or download files from your vault to the computer. Nothing is uploaded to the internet.
What you need
- MaxVault on your iPhone or iPad
- A computer (Windows, Mac, Linux or ChromeOS) with any web browser
- Both on the same Wi-Fi network
Send files from the computer to your iPhone
- Open MaxVault and go to the folder where the files should go.
- Tap + → WiFi Transfer. MaxVault shows an address to open on your computer's browser.
- Type that address into the browser on your computer.
- Drag files onto the page, or use the upload button. They appear in MaxVault as they finish.
Keep MaxVault open while transferring. A banner shows WiFi Transfer is active until you stop it.
Copy files from your iPhone to the computer
On the same page in your computer's browser, open a folder and download the files you want. It's a quick way to back up a vault to your computer.
Why Wi-Fi Transfer instead of the cloud?
Files go directly from one device to the other on your own network. They never pass through a Rambax server or a cloud account.
Other ways to move files
- Transfer to Device: between two iPhones or iPads running MaxVault, from an item's More menu.
- Finder / Apple Devices app: with a cable, through Apple File Sharing.
- For photos and videos from your camera roll to a computer, our other app Simple Transfer is built for exactly that.
