How to hide files on iPhone
Import documents, audio and other files into MaxVault and protect them with a vault passcode separate from your iPhone’s. Organize them in folders, add tags and Favorites, and remove any originals left outside the vault when you no longer need them.
Keep files in a vault with its own passcode
Files left in Files, Mail or a cloud folder may still be accessible outside MaxVault. Import a private copy into a vault with its own passcode. Enter that passcode when MaxVault opens to access that vault.
- From the Files app or iCloud Drive: tap + → Import from Files and choose the files.
- From Safari, Mail and other apps: use the share sheet and choose MaxVault.
- From a computer: tap + → WiFi Transfer and upload from any web browser on the same Wi-Fi. See how to transfer files from a PC.
- Paper documents and IDs: tap + → Scan to scan them straight into a folder.
After importing from the Files app, delete the original there so no visible copy is left. MaxVault opens PDF, Office and iWork documents, plays audio and unzips archives, so you rarely need to take a file back out.
Organize your private files
Create folders for documents, recordings and other collections. Use color tags and Favorites to find important items quickly. Individual folders can have their own password for another layer of access control.
Check copies outside your vault
Importing a file does not automatically remove its original from Files, Mail or a cloud service. Check those locations and any recently deleted folders before assuming the file exists only in MaxVault. Keep a separate backup of important files.
